GCRC Holiday Drift
Everything looks better in double. Whether Street ....
Or something more race oriented.
Borrowed this Falcon.. for battles with "Clownsey"
Go the Aussie v8 Supercars. BA Falcon.
Vs the mighty Red Bull Sponsored Commodore.
We spent the afternoon a few inches apart.
Another driver for the shots...
Shane Van Gisbergen drift style on track.
There was a mix of JZX and V8 action but the photos are always better with a theme.
J-Style Pimp Action.
Cruising with 4 door action.
Some great laps today.
Good battles with all.
Double Dose
Can you really overdose?
Full OD can lead to craziness.
These two machines were both a long build process.
One sourced from parts upon new release and the other sourced from hunting for those discontinued pieces.
The owner of this Drift Package is currently in setup phase. Still getting know how the long running Yokomo chassis works with the OD upgrades.
But my DRB is well and truly setup. It's my style machine. Big angle CS with crazy camber.
When these two are side by side, it's a good thing that these showcase level chassis are both ripe for abuse.
There's still a lot of cleanup that I'd like to do on my long run DRB and I have some components ready.
But I don't think I can ever match the sheer number of Overdose logos on this drift package. So why not add that one extra.
GOLD COAST MIDWEEK SPL
Every Midweek session is SPL. Special machines, Skills and Fun.
Body wise... this JZX100 was a new debut. KNOXIE on the Wheel.
AE86.
Big Red in front of the Servo.
and on the chase... this is the IN CLIP.
Blasting.
With Finesse and total control!
Blasting ...
On to the bumper...
And some return fire.... kapow!
Some big CS angle and some low angle rear wheel drive.
Settings vary all over, mixing it up.
This R34 Widebody is a pretty cool shell.
The super low roofline giving it a certain flair when combined with the drag wing.
All night... Rockin' on.
Deconstructing the Samurai
My DRBs all have their own style... The RED Armour chassis I name Samurai.
This full Overdose chassis is one that always makes me happy. I use it for fun battles but to accommodate that, it still has to perform
High CS ratio of 3.2:1 and full Keyence power train allows for more than enough control. But it's time to upgrade and maintain a few things.
So the first thing to go was the chassis plate. The look of the naked frame is quite interesting.
But not to stop there. As more and more parts were removed... I started to map out the components. Some of the items up for replacement are the front knuckles. The narrow scrub front end works very well, But can I get that in Red? probably not. so some re-anodised parts will be installed.
Laying out the components was fun for a while...but I soon tired of that and only disassembled one side. No wonder I don't do this very often...
BUT...
I still have 3 more to disassemble...!!!!! Yikes!!! I know as I have swapped components around, I have stolen some of the long CVD axles, bearing and setup items for my main chassis.
So this massive project means documenting what I actually have and recompiling the best chassis I can.
But it still makes for a nice photograph...
I was also left with the guts sprawling over the table.
And these shiny items are still the bling de resistance.
Overdose Chassis plates accommodate, battery position, Drift Package or DRB suspension and at the time added belt stabilizer position and larger spur cutouts. Functional and pretty.
So with 3 more to go... I need a rest.
GCRC - Far from Busted
Ripe for a registration defect...
Legality and drift machines have always been misaligned. Massive camber lack of bumpers and wide track often equals instant police attraction. In Australia, an on-street burnout can equal car confiscation and even crushing of the offending vehicle.
So you don't wanna get BUSTED.
So we are forced to the circuit. GCRC replicates a scale short course where sideways action is accepted.
This Team Bomber DRB has been getting some serious lap action. The owner ready for some more tuition.
Torana + Supercharger traveling well.
Scraping the fence means always having fun.
4 door drift...
And 86 drift events seem like a long time ago... but we are starting to prepare for the 24hr events with gymkhana, twin drift, comps and more.
My plan to run the FD today suffered a setback with my rear hex causing a bearing failure.
But there's always next week. Enjoy your RC.
