RE-Xtreme DRB-REW Ninja Configuration #002 - pre test

 RE-Xtreme DRB-REW Ninja config is basically the ALL black setup.

REW Ninja Spec is a straight swap from my previous counter-steer Mid Engine - DRB into the prototype chassis.

I was certain that I would need a little more steering angle from my current setup, so the front knuckles will be replaced. but for now it's only 'just' capable on our super polished concrete surface but carpet is fine. 

The remainder of the chassis has a few changes. Rear BD-7 Ball Diff and some gearing changes will result in a high level. new rear springs also on the way.

Distribution is just where I want it.

 I have a few minor chances underneath. the omission of a few hole and inclusion of a few more. mainly for the Servo and battery mounts.

The new design battery mount will include the facility for the Yokomo Lipo holders

So tomorrow... more testing...

Halloween Jokers

High Speed, High intensity.. no... just Fun.

It's been almost 4 years since I built this FC3s https://vimeo.com/40145729 but it felt like just yesterday.

Borrowing a set of driver's hands for the shoot. I'm glad I still have this body. 

But underneath... that's a different story.

Because the RWD machines have taken hold. This is my Drift Package Drift Master.

 Lined up beside a body I sold a while back, It was awesome to have a FC vs FD battle. Flat out D1 Style.

 FXX-D S Still pumping out lap after lap.

Pandora + HPI + ABC + Yokomo + Custom merged body.

Many hours in paint and mask went into the Yokomo Street Spec FC. 

May thy battle be close and fun.

Speedline Reviews

Oospeed and Speedline were gracious enough to allow us to test some tyres and wheels. 

I already have a few sets of Speedline rims and Tyres, so it was no big deal matching a set for testing.

So far we tried the Rear Wheel Drive CR-1 and CR-2 at GCRC Raceway with 3 independent drivers and chassis.

The CR-1 is the "harder" Medium tyre. It has very very consistent behavior. These will be great to match CS cars. 

It also has a built in rev limiter. If you slowly get on the throttle you get grip and forward motion. Bury the throttle and you don't go anywhere off the line. But once up and running, these tyres are awesome.

The CG-2 is your typical "Medium" Medium-Soft tyre that degrades quickly and although gives a lot of grip also ended up being simply too fast for our use.

Immediate front end understeer with regular front tyres and only short drifts as grip was reached. Definitely one for the faster tracks out there.

We also compared these against Yokomo Zero-One R4 which fell in between the two Speedline compounds
Against the MST CS-R Red benchmarks they performed well with CR-1 having a much longer clean tyre feel as they don't pick up surface dust into the compound.

Se we were very pleased with the outcome. Final decision to come for control tyre selection. 

The Gemini is one body I don't mind running 20mm front tyres. They look better than the fats. 

10 Spoke rims in +8 offset. I'm ready for my next front tyre test. CR-1 Rear tyre and CG-1 20mm RWD on the front and a narrower chassis.

the CG-1 are a hard compound that should match the CR-1 perfectly.

Ready to hammer.

DRIFT PACKAGE DRB-REW Rear Drive Rear Motor Weight Shift Evolution Prototype

The DRB is a great base for Drift... And I wasn't finished with it's Evolution.

This Custom Mid Motor Chassis from Japan I use for CS, It combines hints from Guild'n One, Overdose, GRK and more but I have still tried to improve on this by opening up the range of options further.  

I've been trying a lot of designs to accommodate large steering angle and flexiblity in setup.

Support for all these will be built in.

I have played with locations for everything.

But accommodating this one is where I have focused most attention

The first prototype is ready in CAD for cutting and prototyping. A lot of components, but perfecting an already great design requires a bit of re-engineering.

Can't wait to get it on track.

Once the Prototype is setup... I'll be making the chassis available for sale.

Seven's Day @ GCRC - Part # 2 The Show Winners

GCRC brings out the bling.


Double Down! Popular Vote and the SPL #1 GCRC trophy.

 With so many, it was again a difficult selection.

Tamiya FD3s RX7 + Demi Works Rocket Bunny Aero and small details.

I decided to showcase the RX-7s on the RE-Xtreme podium.

Another addition to GCRC's diorama corner.

With so many screws, it's hard to keep the lexan smooth. But this body looked great sitting in the sun definitely one that looks aggressive in person.

This machine took out the 2nd place in the Popular Vote.

Simple and Clean.

The BN Sports FC3s is a striking image.

Mufflers look like pen caps.

But add a great finishing tough.

My little chubby SA took out 3rd place in a very evenly spread voting field.

A very small margin taking the 3rd place cup.

It's definitely unique.

Being RE-Xtreme, I dedicated 2 awards to this battle showdown. My theme for selection was clean lines and small details.

Yokomo street version FC3s has just that. Combine it with a meaty cage and a few flashing lights...

And you get a clean beautiful machine.

BRAP BRAP BRAP indeed winning the FC3s Award.

For the FD3s Award the same criteria applied.

Clean Tamiya lines and small details.

Nicely detailed interior and that curvaceous shape. Some might say, simply perfect.
