DRW-REW Config #3 Typhoon Spec

Typhoon Spec is the Silver Polished Branding for the RE-Xtreme Machines. This Config is the final testing platform. The most DRB of the DRB-REW so far.

Something about black on silver contrast is cool.

Front mock up setting using older components.

The main changes here include the use of wiper extensions on the forward DRB position. You can see the upper deck has many options.

In this location you can choose the original ackerman bar or you can use an ajustable turnbuckle linked through the bulkhead.

original servo mount location.(reversed mounts)

It's a bit easier to see with the contrast that the bulheads are raised, Raised ride height, but towers remain at original height. Small carbon details also finish off the stabi.

I installed this antenna from my old car, then i realised i had a built in antenna on the RX-482... haha.

reversing the motor and using a Sakura pulley set means you can eliminate a lot of bearings and tensioners.

Diff polishing underway at this point.

V2 front end in use. Overdose ackerman bar and OD wipers still used. My extensions just need a spacer on the shock or a little trimming for clearance.

But I'm certainly getting lock. I'm goinf to use GX V2 knuckles on this machine to replace the OLD od 8-8 hubs.

Next testing...

DRB-REW Revisions

DRB-REW ... From CAD to Reality.

I was influenced by a post I saw on the interwebs.  Inverse servo mount between the front bulkhead using the normal drift package wiper setup on the reversed mounts for DRB.

Having already incorporated the DRB reverse position, DP mounts and more. This was a no-brainer to add.

With the bulkheads raised 5mm with the Weight Shift Spacer Set already and the front tower cutout already having the ability to clear a larger spur. Clearance for the servo is there and all I needed to do was to modify the support up front and the upper deck.

So, it was off to the PC to draw up a front mount and modification to the upper deck as a servo mount.

While this will sneak into the production version untested. It's a small mod, that opens up the choices for everyone. To those waiting for the REW... Won't be long now. Small delays like this should make the end result even better. It's all coming together.

GCRC FRIDAY SESSION = FRYDYSSH

GCRC = Gold Coast RC Raceway.

Time to test a few more RWD setups. But i get distracted by awesome battles.

This time I lowered the GRK Slide rack on the DRB-REW, but I am still waiting on some front stub axles so I can install some GX knuckles to get the maximum lock that I want. It meant that setting was driving was limiting the ability to set a constant line and not having that "spin preventing" safety margin in ultimate maximum lock past 65 degrees.

But I had some good laps with the "White Team"

These two were awesome in door to door bashing.

Hunting down targets

And sliding through nicely.

Fun to watch

CS machines Cranking it out, I joined in later with my RWD.

Anyone for Pink? Unfortunately not an S15 aka "ichi-go"

Or perhaps a little German Auto

Enter the Drift Package "Drift Master Weight Shift"

Setup is awesome these days. Huge angle, Huge Style.

Admittedly, still a few degrees shy of the long constant angle CS3.5+ machines, going to a matching max angle means dropping outright speed. But the angle is definitely surpassing a CS 2.0ish machine for style and angle.

Getting machines like this to work on super polished concrete is a massive challenge. But we are all finding that our previous limits and getting higher.

Known working combinations are appearing for some fun times.

DRB-REW DONOR

Conversion Kits require a donor. This is the start of DRB-REW #004

While many components will still need to be purchased. Having a solid base is always good.

This DRb is CS 1.8 with full alloy Yokomo Upgrades, Some Overdose parts and the right gear most importantly purchased at the "right" price. Seems a shame to pull it apart.

Something like this new, would have been 700 + Alloy Upgades + CS parts + OD Parts + V2 Front taking it way up there.

But now, something like this is only a fraction of that.

Converting to my REW-RWD, means you will have some surplus components and the switch to the back means you can eliminate all the long belt guides.

Front One Way,
Front CVDs
Front C-Hubs
Front lower arms

Rear CS Spool
Rear Belt
Guide Pulleys
Tensioner
Main chassis plate
Upper deck
Front suspension tower
Rear suspension tower

( I'll be listing a lot of CS stuff for sale soon )

And some other bits, but then you need to decide what to add.

Because the DRB-REW can support Drift Package parts also for suspension, you have to pull out all your old bits before you decide which way to go.

For #004

I'm still undecided what the eventual setting will be. It's hard to limit yourself to certain components when some of the modern options offer more flexibility.
Required

Front Knuckles and stub axle.
Some Ball Pivots.
Front Lower Y Arms and extensions.
DRB-REW Conversion kit.

and thats about it.

On another note. I'm still working on a few other chassis.

DRB-REW Protoype #001 Tsunami Blue DP Wipers.
DRB-REW Conversion #002 Ninja Black GRK Slide Rack
DRB-REW Conversion #003 Typhoon Silver DRB Extensions

DRB-REW Conversion #004 spec TBA

Other current projects include this Plastic DoriPake which is under RWD Construction (includes RF chassis choice).

Too many projects... Yep. You bet.

GCRC CEE CEE

Get in the slipstream... @ GCRC

It starts with a 4 way entry...

Then try and hang on under power.

And get ready for the switch!

Every couple of laps, we wait for that small mistake so we can move up the order.

or just chill at the back to enjoy the flavour.

Out of a 3 hour session, I only use the camera for about 5 minutes.

But there's always someone trying to show off sliding the wall.

Or simply cruising.

It was actually a task to get everyone to stop for a 1 minute shoot.

Driftline S13, FXX S15, DRB-REW FD3s, Hayabusa S14, Bianca JZX

Tonight I was play with weight shift setting so the ride height was a little higher than normal.

Chase time!

Running away from Tomato Sauce and mustard.

I still need to concentrate on setting a line. Even after 5 years. I'm crap at leading.

But I try.

But drop a tiny bit of speed or make a small mistake, and the train will catch up. These battles are tight!

I have some more "dudes" to bring to the circuit for scenery. A few new things have been added around the place.

Still fighting with bump steer on the slide rack setting, but new knuckles on the way which should eliminate that.

DRB-REW Ninja black setting is tested and proven. Now it's time for chassis setting #3 Typhoon silver.

What an awesome session! Loving the Tuesday Tsuiso.
